Joshi Fireplace Screen
Did you know that the glass covering a gas or electiric fireplace can reach a temperature of between 200->315°C (or 400->600°F) in about six minutes? That sort of temperature gives 3rd degree burns almost instantaneously, your children and family are at risk every time you turn on that fireplace you love so much.
The Joshi fireplace screen was designed and is built with child safety in mind. Designed and manufactored in Canada exclusively by W-D Metalcraft, the Joshi Fireplace Safety Screen can be custom made to fit any natural gas or electric fireplace. The Joshi puts a safe barrier between the very hot fireplace front glass and your young children. The screen is made from coated chain mesh that provides a lot of surface area allowing it to stay much cooler than the fireplace doors and remaining safe to touch*.
This screen features:
- Round, screened corners so that young, curious hands do not get scratched
- A safe gap between fireplace glass and screen (we typically recommend a 6" gap which usually provides enough airflow to keep the Joshi screen safe to touch but we can accomodate almost any dimensions)
- Sturdy magnets for non-damaging yet strong adhesion to your fireplace insert
- Rubber pads to protect the painted finish

* Joshi doors rely on the physical properties of wire mesh to dissipate heat and they must be built to maintain a minimum 6" gap to ensure proper air circulation. Some installations do not have the required clearance to create a 6" gap, in these cases the Joshi screen may become hot to the touch but in all cases the Joshi screen offers a protective barrier that is less dangerous and much less hot than the fireplace's glass.
