W-D Metalcraft

A private Canadian corporation headquartered in Kitchener Ontario, W-D Metalcraft has been building fireplace doors and screens of superior quality that are designed to bring both safety and beauty to your fireplace. All fireplace doors and screens are hand crafted by our team of experienced craftspeople and backed by a lifetime warranty on workmanship.

The originall business,  called Metcraft,  was started in 1941 in a garage in Waterloo Ontario and grew to 15 employees in the 70s with a plant on Northfield Drive and a landmark showroom at the corner of King & Columbia streets in Waterloo.. The business went through a number of different owners over the next couple decades until it was purchased 10 yrs ago by the current owner, Peter Nigh, who updated the business using their tool and die experiance creating their flagship product, custom glass doors for gas and electric fire places.

Our doors have changed the paradigm of door delivery times. New products such as our Joshi fireplace child safety screen and our most recent wood grates are innovative and highly competitive. As well we build custom outdoor pizza oven and cooking grill doors.
